The solstice is a major event that occur between the Earths
Celestial Equator, the Sun, and the Ecliptic. They are observered when
the Sun appears to rise above the Celestial Equator to mark the start of
the Solar New Year. This is when the days and the nights are equal in
length - at the start of Spring, and end of summer at Autumn
times; They also mark Longest and Shortest days: by the apparent highest
declinations that the Sun reaches north and south of the Equator -
usually at 23 degrees 26 minutes Latitude.
